Homemade Sushi, Red Wine and 30 Rock

So I've got a new roommate... Her name is Stephanie Durfey and she's awesome! She moved in over MLK weekend and we decided that we needed to kick off this new living situation right...SUSHI! We both love sushi and have been to Honada's many times. So we thought, why not try and make our own sushi?

We figured out what we wanted to make - tuna rolls, salmon rolls and California rolls - then headed off to Whole Foods to do some shopping! PS... I love Whole Foods. Seriously, they've got such a good selection. They even have blood oranges (which, despite the name, are the most amazing oranges ever!), and Meyer lemons! I mean, seriously, I can't find those anywhere else. Let me say it again, I. Love. Whole Foods.

Back to the house and let the sushi making begin. I think the more we made, the better we got at it and the more we just decided to wing it! We made salmon rolls, spicy salmon, some crazy concoction that had pickled radishes and wasabi. Oh and avocado was definitely in everything. I. Love. Avocados. We definitely had way more than we could eat, but we ate it anyways! Making homemade sushi makes so much more than what you get when you go to the restaurant. Needless to say, we didn't make any of the tuna or the California rolls.

We ate good sushi, had awesome wine from a winery in Washington State, and watched  30 Rock. I call that a fantastic night!
